A WINNING HAND FOR ADVENTURE: TUMBLER RIDGE RIDERS POKER RUN HIGHLIGHTS

Located in British Columbia's Northern Rockies, Tumbler Ridge beckons adventure seekers year-round with its UNESCO Global Geopark status. This picturesque region, known for its remarkable geological heritage, transforms into a winter wonderland where snowmobilers from far and wide converged on January 27th, 2024 for the annual The Tumbler Ridge Riders Snowmobile Poker Ride.

CONNECTING WITH ANCIENT LANDSCAPES

Tumbler Ridge's allure lies in its rich history, with fossil beds and dinosaur tracks scattered across the areas unique geological features, turning the area into a prehistoric playground. Riders can embark on a thrilling journey, carving their own paths through the snow-covered terrains where the footprints of ancient creatures once roamed. It's a unique opportunity to connect with a landscape that narrates Earth's 4,600-million-year-long history like no other place in British Columbia.

Maintained by the Tumbler Ridge Riders Snowmobile Club, popular areas like Core Lodge, Wolverine, and Bullmoose cater to riders seeking diverse adventures – from high-energy escapades to leisurely explorations. Whether you're a seasoned rider or a novice, Tumbler Ridge offers an unparalleled snowmobiling experience that invites enthusiasts to explore the beauty of the Northern BC Rockies.

THE POKER RIDE

The recent Poker Ride event unfolded against the stunning backdrop of the Core Lodge/Babcock Falls area. The carefully crafted route included a ride along 5 Cabin Creek Road, with strategic stops at key landmarks. From the groomer on the busy road/trail at km 3 to the charming "Hot Dog Shack" in Arctic Cat Meadows, and the notorious "bus" tucked just north of the main road, participants were treated to a scenic journey that showcased the diverse landscapes of Tumbler Ridge.

A WINNING HAND FOR ADVENTURE

Under warm, sunny skies, over 60 riders gathered for the Poker Ride, with all 60 hands sold out. The winning hand, a stroke of luck with all 7's forming a perfect four of a kind, sealed the victory. Participants enjoyed a delicious lunch featuring hot dogs, hamburgers, chili, and a variety of hot dog toppings, adding a savory touch to the day's festivities.

BEYOND THE RIDE

Tumbler Ridge isn't just about snowmobiling; it's a treasure trove of natural wonders. The area boasts beautiful peaks and trails, including Mount Kostiuk, Hidden Valley, The Terminator, The Super Bowl, Mount Babcock, Babcock Falls, the Shipyard and Titanic rock gardens, a secret lagoon, and little falls dripping over the Terminator route.

As the Poker Ride wrapped up, riders departed with memories etched in the snowy landscapes of Tumbler Ridge.
