The town of Revelstoke exudes an enchanting old-world charm with roots in the resource extraction industry, while skillfully evolving into a modern global hub for outdoor enthusiasts. It has long been a destination for mountaineers, hikers, and explorers - many of whom choose to stay and raise children here. Families including the LaRoy’s and Veideman’s, pioneered snowmobiling in Revelstoke over 50 years ago. It often took two days to punch in the trail to where the current Boulder Mountain Cabin sits so that their wives and children would have an easier ride up through the deep snowpacks.

These are the humble roots of how snowmobile organizations such as the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club were formed. Thanks to the diligent work of these volunteers, snowmobiling now contributes over $31.2million in annual economic output to the local Revelstoke economy.

WHERE TO RIDE

Boulder has a lot to offer for different types of riders. You can choose to spend your day cruising over 50km of groomed trails, exploring lower tree lines around the shelter, or traversing the plateau, bowls, and peaks beyond for alpine adventures.

There are three trail options to reach the Boulder day use shelter as your basecamp for the day. Bezanson is the shortest and most popular trail. The sunny Veideman Trail provides scenic views over town. The Kirkup Trail also provides access to the advanced ungroomed Turtle Mountain Trail network which includes Monster Bowl and Copeland Mine area.

Each trail steadily climbs in wide forested switchbacks up the shoulder of the mountain to reach the day-use shelter. Stay and play here a while or head across the small lake in front of the cabin and up the groomed Summit Trail to reach what feels like endless bowls and micro terrain including the famous Super Bowl, Sugar Bowl, and Turbo Hill.

These aren't the only iconic landmarks to visit - you may also want to check out Alberta Hill, Bull Pen, Airport, Private Meadows and Kirkup Lakes. Each zone is unique in its way and offers a different experience to visitors. There is enough terrain to spread out from the crowds and explore for days here - so much so that it can be easy to become disoriented especially if the clouds roll in. Take your time getting the lay of the land or hire a certified professional guide.

However you decide to explore Boulder Mountain, you will undoubtedly have a memorable experience. Whether you are a seasoned rider or a curious beginner, Boulder Mountain's breathtaking scenery and vast terrain will ensure an unforgettable experience. Don't hesitate, grab your gear, and get ready to explore the magnificence of Boulder Mountain in Revelstoke, BC.
