WHERE THE MOUNTAINS MEET
Geography has always made Valemount a meeting place. Three mountain ranges converge around this little village, with the Rockies, Monashees and Cariboos crowding the horizon and Mount Robson standing sentinel nearby.
Come winter, groomed trails climb toward Allan Creek, Clemina Creek and Chappell Creek, trading valley bottom for warming cabins, treeline and big alpine country. At Clemina, the Dixon Glacier fills the backdrop. At Allan, the trail gives way to bowls and meadows that seem to keep going. And at Crystal Ridge, snowmobiles provide the lift for skiers and snowboarders chasing another kind of mountain day.
By day’s end, everyone finds their way back to the village. Sleds go back on decks, wet gloves get hung up and crews compare notes over dinner while someone starts lobbying for tomorrow’s riding area. Different mountains. Different stories. Same little village in the middle of it all.

A long, scenic trail leads into high country known for holding snow. No alpine cabin, fewer grooming passes — and plenty of reason to make the trip.
