HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2024 HUNTERS RANGE LADIES RIDE

In the wake of a Pineapple Express warm weather front leaving snow enthusiasts in British Columbia in search of the perfect ride, nearly 90 adventurous women sledders gathered on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024 proving that you don’t need ideal snow conditions to have a great time. The Hunters Range Snowmobile Association's (HRSA) 3rd Annual Ladies Social Ride attracted 59 registered lady riders and 28 enthusiastic volunteers, making it one of the largest female social rides in BC.

The Vision Behind the HRSA Ladies Ride

The driving reason behind starting the HRSA Ladies Ride was to facilitate an event for ladies to meet, build friendships on the snow and find other like minded women to connect with. As us women break into a male dominated sport, it can be hard to get the seat time you need to grow your skills if you don’t have a core group to head out with every weekend.

A Mental Health Escape

These events are also a mental health escape, where we can build each other up, cheer each other on through our triumphs, pull each other's skis in our failures, and learn from one another. It was my goal to make sure this ride was open and inviting to all, no matter what brand or year of machine you ride, or what level your skills are at, we want you to come out and have a good time. Some ladies that register are brand new to snowmobiling, and some are as advanced as they come pushing their limits into gnarly terrain. Having groups based on skill level and comfortability helps to keep everyone feeling safe and not overwhelmed.

Building Blocks for Growth

These rides transcend mere social events, serving as foundational building blocks for female riders to enhance their skills and gain more seat time. The camaraderie, excitement, smiles, high fives, cheers, and hugs create an atmosphere unlike any other day on the mountain. For every female rider, attending a ladies social ride is an opportunity to feel on top of the world, creating lasting memories that will have you eagerly counting down to the next year's ride.

The success of the event was made possible by the incredible dedication of volunteers and corporate partners. A heartfelt thank you goes out to every volunteer who played a crucial role in making this event a reality, contributing to the growth and continuity of the HRSA Ladies Ride.
