HUNTER’S RANGE HITS THE MARK

When you think of Enderby BC, you may think of the Enderby Cliffs, the Starlight Drive-In, floating the Shuswap River, Sutherlands Bakery, or even camping at Mable Lake, but what about snowmobiling... does it come to mind? If it doesn't, it should! Enderby’s backyard has something for every rider to dip a shoulder in!

Down Cliff Avenue and across the bridge to Mable Lake Road, you will find your way to Hunters Range, home of the Hunters Range Snowmobile Association! Made up of two trailheads and over 90kms of groomed trails, one can easily make their way to the terrain of their choice! Offering meadows, never-ending tree lines, numerous creeks, cliff edges, rolling hills, and a series of bowls, any level of rider can enjoy themselves here!

Where should you start?! The choice is yours!

The Ashton/Brash trailhead is only a few minutes from town, and the staging area to the Main Chalet is about 26kms of groomed trail, making it a pleasant ride for any group to embark on. Once you approach the day lodge, you will see surrounding meadows skirted with a few irresistible trees lines! When you arrive at the Cabin's steps, venture inside, and you will find a big wood stove, a drying rack, and several picnic tables! For young families and new riders, this may be an excellent destination for the day, but for others, you may want to stop here, regroup, or zing right by and head out back to the Gord Sidney cabin!

The Gord Sidney Cabin may not always be warm when you arrive, but it’s a great place to meet up, take a break, start a fire, hash out a riding plan, or hang out! For the die-hards, you can make it out to this hut via the main trail, or you can branch off into the trees and find your way from the backside or come at it from the “Lower Jeep” trail! Either choice has its fair share of creeks, trees and attractive features!  From this shelter, there is endless terrain to conquer! However, you don’t have to start your ride from this mountainside...

Keep Driving!

Further out Mable Lake Road, past the Ashton Creek General Store (which has everything including 2stroke amsoil), you will eventually bump into the Kingfisher FSR. It leads to the LaForge/Cooke Creek Trail Head! From here, you can also access Cooke Creek, or you can head up LaForge and explore Mount Mara! Made up of big open bowls, steeper hills and peaks, an epic fire lookout with a 360-degree view, the Stash Cabin, and a very “Skinny Ridge”  to meet up with friends from Sled Sicamous, Mount Mara is an excellent choice for the intermediate to advanced rider to begin their day!

So, next time you think of Enderby BC, think of adding Hunters Range to your collection of trail maps, or if you're new to town, join the club and purchase a membership! Hunters Range hosts fun family events, has some great volunteers that help keep the club going, and puts a remarkable effort into maintaining its trails and cabins for everyone to enjoy! Enderby BC; Known for the variety of outdoor activities it has to offer...including snowmobiling at Hunters Range!
